Our company was founded in 1891 as News Publishing Company at 409 J Street in downtown Sacramento. In 1962, News Publishing merged with Sacramento Lithograph Company to become Cal Central Press. The company moved to our current location at 2629 Fifth Street and was the largest commercial printer in Sacramento and the Central Valley. Many of the area's industry leaders trained and worked at Cal Central Press. In 1996, Cal Central Press was purchased by American Lithographers, in Hayward. The two plants coordinated operations and became one of the largest commercial printing companies in Northern California. In 1997, American Litho was sold to the Smurfit Corporation, which is an Irish-based international conglomerate. Finally, in 2002, the company was acquired by Consolidated Graphics, headquartered in Houston. CGX ended the joint operations at the two American Litho plants in Hayward and Sacramento. The two facilities became independent companies again with separate management, sales, and focus. American Litho has a long and proud tradition of fine printing. The resources and strength of Consolidated Graphics has allowed us to augment our conventional offset printing with industry leading digital abilities. |
